WELCOME - Counselling and Psychotherapy in Teddington, Hampton Hill, Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston

I’m a local counsellor and psychotherapist, living and working in Teddington, Middlesex. I work both creatively and pragmatically to help you bring resolution to your concerns and enrich your life. In working with me, as an individual or a couple, my desire is to support your wellbeing. I aspire to an ethical and fair practice which incorporates full fee and low cost places.

I have been working therapeutically with clients in Teddington, Hampton Hill, Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston for over 10 years. In addition to my private practice, I work for an Employee Assistance Programme as a Case Manager providing emotional support and practical resources to employees of member organisations. I am also a trainee Clinical Supervisor at the West London Counselling Centre.

What do I offer?
Counselling and psychotherapy offers you the opportunity to explore concerns within a supportive and empathic relationship. Distress may impact your psychological, biological and physical wellbeing. Working holistically we discuss how counselling or psychotherapy may support you. I offer specifically tailored therapy and the work progresses at a pace to suit you. Your safety is kept in mind and I may offer small challenges to support your growth in awareness, capability and choice.

In addition to traditional therapeutic support inside a therapy room in Teddington, I offer outdoor therapy, in a local park or by the river, telephone and internet therapy sessions. I work with individuals and couples in short term (up to 6 weeks) and longer term (6 weeks +).

People in Teddington, Hampton Hill, Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston typically choose to work with me because they like my empathic approach combined with pragmatism. For some people the opportunity to work outside brings a welcome dimension to support health and wellbeing whilst walking (or sitting) outside and talking. Being outside is likely to bring more stimulation to the sessions and the therapeutic experience. Sometimes, people who live outside Teddington, in Hampton Hill, Twickenham, Richmond or Kingston, want to work with a counsellor or psychotherapist outside their immediate area.

For practical as well as psychological reasons, you may choose to work with me on the phone or via the internet.

The first session is an assessment to ensure that your preferred counselling method is safe, ethical and appropriate for you.

Why do people come to counselling and psychotherapy?
There are many reasons people attend counselling, these include hoping to learn coping strategies to manage overwhelming feelings and thoughts; to explore an aspect of life which is problematic in some way; for curiosity and self development. I aim to help you talk about and explore your concerns. By doing this I hope that you will be better equipped to process difficult thoughts and feelings and connect to your own strengths and inner resources.

As one of my clients said:

"...what I have learnt in therapy will stay and support me for the rest of my life.."

Clients bring a range of issues to therapy with me and over the years I’ve noticed these include – anxiety, depression, relationship problems, bereavement, use of alcohol, eating disorders, low self esteem, pregnancy related issues, obsessive compulsive behaviours, fear of anger and conflict, stress and trauma (past and present).

When are the sessions held?
I work with clients during the day and evening in my private practice Mondays – Wednesdays.

Indoor therapy sessions are held at the Orange Tree Clinic in Broad Street, Teddington, TW11 8QZ. There is free parking in nearby roads and paid parking in the local Tesco car park. Teddington station is approximately a 10 minute walk away. Bus routes include 281, 33 and R68.

For telephone and VOIP sessions you will need to have access to a private space where you will not be disturbed for the 50 minutes session.

For outdoor therapy we agree a meeting place which is either in a local park or by Teddington Lock.
